| PROGRAM: MERIDA (4 DAYS/3 NIGHTS)

Day 1: Arrival in Mérida and welcome by our guide. Transport to the Mucunuy lodge located at the foot of the majestic Venezuelan Andes. This lodge is part of an old hacienda (plantation) dating back to colonial times and has been restored and conditioned to host travelers. In the afternoon will visit interesting sites in the friendly city of
Mérida. Mérida is a university town and has many lovely sites and fine restaurants. (-/-/-)
Day 2:
Trekking and hiking to low and intermediate elevations 1.000-1.600 m will keep us busy all day. Sites include a coffee plantation, a sugar cane mill and Jaji a colorful Andean town. At the end of the day we will hike along the semi-arid valley of the Chama river.

Day 3:
Travel by cable car to the top of Pico Espejo with an elevation of 4700 meters. The
Mérida cable car system is the longest and highest in the world; back by early afternoon. Then we will visit several picturesque Andean towns along the winding andean mountain road.
Mucuchíes, San Rafael and Apartaderos are ideal places to take pictures, eat local deserts or just walk around.

| To end the day we'll visit the Mifafi Biological station where several Condors have been reintroduced into the wild. Today we'll stay at the famous
"Hotel Los Frailes" at an altitude of 3.000 meters. Double

Day 4:
A two hour hike over varied terrain to Laguna Negra at an altitude of more than 3.000 meters will give us one more chance to enjoy the Andes mountains. This is a beautiful and peaceful place to take pictures of frailejones (typical andean plants) and the mountains. Then it's to the city of
Mérida to catch the bus or airplane. End of trip. (B/-/-)
